THIS JUST IN - KATRINA 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY - STATE AND LOCAL

NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ As the second anniversaries of two major hurricanes approach, Louisiana plans an August forum of tourism officials from around the world -- capping what will be a month-long effort to shift attention from lingering devastation to thriving cultural events that are important to the recovery. Throughout August, a series of exhibitions, programs, workshops and performances will be held statewide to demonstrate the value and diversity of culture in Louisiana. (6-20-2007)

When I wrote the following post:
http://postkatrina2007.blogspot.com/2007/06/shift-in-attention-as-2-year-mark.html I had little idea as to what an important role the words shift in attention would play. I was musing in my writings - wondering how the state and local government would frame "Katrina 2 Years After" - and lo, the the answer to my question was located in the title of the blog!

Well, now we know the state and local "framing" of the 2 year anniversary.
Let's see how things are framed for "public consumption" from the national news corps...

How grievous it is to my heart that so many continue to suffer, especially the Black American families and senior citizens (in New Orleans). How grievous for those (state and regionwide) who already feel and continue to feel abandoned in their suffering, by the local and state governments, that their goal includes a month long 'effort' to shift the attention from the devastation.

IN PEACE.
