I happen to be sitting last Friday in a FEMA trailer in the 9th Ward and the T.V. was on. A woman was being interviewed as her local "bar and grill" had just reopened and there was great cause for celebration, the story even rated "news coverage" The woman was sharing how now that her local bar and grill was open again, "she could really feel as if she is recovering" from the effects of Katrina.

It seems to me, as an "outsider" that the disconnect between the folks living "Uptown" and the "Lower 9th Ward" is pretty vast. My heart feels compassion for those who continue to live in desolation in their FEMA trailers watching news stories such as the one that I watched that day.

Where is the shared experience of grief and suffering?

In Peace.
